Self Storage is a service, which offers you the space to keep your goods and affords you the peace of mind that you know your belongings are safe, secure and protected from the elements.

You are the only key holder to your room.

A good self storage centre will give you access to your belongings at times convenient to you during working hours and some stores offer 24 hr access.

Self storage costs vary from region to region and even within local areas. The cost of storage will vary with the size of the space you need. Use our space estimator as a guide or speak to one of our stores. Don't worry if when you arrive the quantity of goods or the space required is more or less than the estimate, a more suitable size room can easily be found, if not you should not be expected to pay more than for the amount of space you need.

You only pay for the storage room, padlock and insurance are also needed but you should check if you are covered by your home insurance, if not, listed self storage centres can cover your goods for a small premium and padlocks are also sold onsite along with packaging, boxes and bubble wrap.

You would use self storage if you were in business and wanted to increase your stock levels for e.g. Christmas or if you wanted to archive documents.

If you were a student perhaps going home for the holidays and wanted to know that your goods would be safe until your return.

Householders/Homeowners might use storage when moving house, perhaps having your possessions delivered to a storage facility near to where you are moving. Anglers, Fishermen not wanting to clutter the garage or garden shed. Anyone who needs more space.

The lock is normally provided by you but some stores give you one free. Providing your own lock and you being the only key holder gives you peace of mind, knowing that no one can access your room without your permission. Most stores do sell padlocks and because we buy so many we can sell them cheap.

Self storage rooms are normally constructed from steel sheets. The roof is also usually constructed from the same steel sheets that make the walls and doors. The steel construction helps to reduce the risk of damage to property from fire and reduces the risk of break-ins.

Staff are helpful in offering advice should you need any but cannot offer any help handling your belongings because insurance liability does not usually extend to handling goods.

The only cost involved is the rental for the room, plus the insurance if you are not already covered by your home insurance, and the price of a padlock to keep your room secure. The only variation is in moving to a smaller or larger room where the rental costs are based on square footage and will need to be adjusted accordingly.
